Web Design with IPhone and IPad Compatible Videos

Posted by | Posted in Web Design Perth, Web Design and Development Perth WA, web designer perth, website designer perth | Posted on 22-05-2011

Web Design is always changing because the environment is always changing. You may or may not know that many videos on the internet that are not with Youtube cannot be seen with an Iphone or an Ipad. Due to Apple not supporting the most popular format on the internet, namely flash this can be a problem if you are using videos.

We recently created a site for maysen and borowski which if you click on the left hand side where the video link is, you can view the video not only on your desktop but on your iphone. We cannot improve the speed of teh iphone but we can make it available to those who want to view the video on their phone.

If you want your website to be visible to the 60% of people now using their mobile phones to look for information, call Web Wizards, a Perth Website Designer you can rely on. If you need to know more about the websites and videos we create, then please call us on 9350 9392.

They are one of the top centres in the state and we are very proud to be able to give them a great resource for the local community. It is quite interesting what you find out when you create a web design for a client. I didn’t realise how many activities and groups utilised the facilities on a weekly basis.

Web Design Implications of Google Update

Posted by | Posted in Online Marketing, SEO Perth, Web Design Perth, Web Design and Development Perth WA, web designer perth | Posted on 03-03-2011

People who do spammy SEO were a bit worried this week. The reason being that google finally started delisting results from websites that had 3rd world content writers churning out 5-10 articles per day which then showed up in results. In all about 11.8% of sites in the search results were wiped out. About 1 in 8 that were showing up last week, are now not showing up at all.

The real winners are those that provide good content, well designed website pages and thoughtful comments rather than just filling the internet with rubbish.

As a local perth web designer I am glad to see google bring in this long overdue change. If you want some further reading on the topic this post gives you more detail.

Google Forecloses On Content Farms With “Farmer” Algorithm Update

I guess it all comes down to what your definition of a “content farm” is. From Google’s earlier blog post, content farms are places with “shallow or low quality content.” In that regard, Rosenblatt is right that Demand Media properties …

Web Page Designer

Web Page Designers

They come in all shapes and sizes. The question is who will suit you, when designing your website?

The things that your website designer should be focused on is getting traffic to your website.

To successfully get traffic to your website you need to be aware of some of the most important aspects.

1 Choose a website designer that actually has offices and can give you support after the site has finished.

2 Ensure that you have a design that is appealing to the visitor.

3 Ensure the website is easy for the potential customer to navigate.

4 Ensure that the site is structured properly. That means that each page is individually metatagged and that the content on the page has the keywords in them that you want to be found for.

5 Ensure that your designer understands the SEO (search engine optimisation) implications of your design and can help you to get on the elusive front page of the organic results where 95% of the traffic comes from as opposed to the Google Ads which is only roughly 5% of the traffic.

6 Ensure that your web designer asks enough questions to understand your business.

If you feel overwhelmed and you need to talk to someone about your web page designer call Web Wizards on (08) 9350 9392

Web Design Perth Update

Is the Planet  Running out of  Ip Addresses?

Here is the Summary

  • The Internet can currently only sustain 4.3 billion addresses
  • IPv4, the web protocol that connects computers globally, was created way back in 1977.
  • A new web protocol, IPv6, can sustain trillions of addresses.
  • IPv4, which is responsibble for connecting computers globally, was originally created as part of an experiment for the U.S.defense department.
  • The world will run out of Internet addresses "within weeks", according to one of the founding fathers of the web, a report said Friday.
  • "It doesn’t mean the network stops, it just means you can’t build it very well," Cerf said.
  • IP addresses are the unique sequence of numbers assigned to each computer, website or other internet-connected devices. They are not the same as website domain names.
  • The overwhelming number of devices now accessing the internet means the addresses are running out fast.
  • To resolve the crisis, an updated protocol for the Internet, IPv6, currently being planned by the industry, will create trillions of addresses.

Web Wizards Web Design Perth and Google Changes

Posted by | Posted in Online Marketing, Web Design and Development Perth WA, web designer perth | Posted on 27-11-2010

Web Design is a multi-faceted approach where design is not the only consideration. The purpose of a website can be argued many ways but I see that the purpose of a website is to attract visitors, engage vistors, convert visitors to Prospects and then to ultimately convert them to customers.

Google is changing the way search results are being fed and many won’t be very happy about it. Google has been watching thousands of companies get rich from search results whilst all the while only receiving income from paid advertisers in their Adwords program. 95% visitors DON"T click on ads. They look at the search results on the left hand side of the page. If you are relying on Adwords alone then you are turning your back on 95% of the possible traffic. This is why we specialise in SEO for clients as that is where the money is.

Anyway Google has already got rid of the Map Mess at the top of the page. It will be replaced with a normal listing with a link to a map. That link will display the first photo that you load into your local Google map. For most companies that means a logo image. The listings with these colourful logos will definitely get more clicks. They also will send vistors to your Google map page and not your website. Those who have ugly looking Google maps will not get much more business.

We are creating some branded graphics for clients to make sure that their local map is appealing.

Here is a little promo about Google mobile search and the web design world that awaits.

Google Apps Work With Website Development and Emails

Posted by | Posted in Content Management Systems (CMS), Web Design and Development Perth WA, web designer perth | Posted on 17-08-2010

I am a big fan of Google apps. If you have had the problems with windows server 2003 and 2008 then you know that if your server goes down you lose emails. The last straw for me was during the last storm when a colleague and I who we use as each others backup for our own emails both went down. Our customers were fine as they were on web servers but the office servers were another story.

Since then I have moved to google apps which allows you to use google as your incoming server, it filters all your emails and then sends them through. It has 8 backup servers and synchronises with your outlook calendars, mails and works better on your phone as well.
