Unique Supps

Building a brand from the ground up

There is such a challenge when starting a business from scratch. You have a great idea, you have the passion, but where to start? Matt had been working in the fitness industry for years but thought there an opportunity to offer better supplements at better prices. He did the groundwork, got a plan, got suppliers, crunched the numbers but he still needed his brand.

After a recommendation from another of our clients Matt came to see us. We saw the vision and we knew we would like to work with him to build and launch his ecommerce website but at this point he had no design direction.

Challenges

Matt met with our design team and discussed his goals for the brand. As part of ths process he went through a branding brief and completed a questionnaire so we could drill down onthe aesthetic he was looking for. He wanted bold, bright and of course “Unique”. A logo that was easily recognisable and would translate well to print material as he also required print products along with his logo and website.

Through the consultative process, with revisions of chosen concepts the strong black and purple logo was chosen, one where elements of the logo could be used thorught the website and packaging as reference to the brand.

Evolution

With our years of experience building Ecommerce websites we could guide Matt through the myriad of options that easily can bamboozle when developing a shopping cart website. While it’s very important to focus on the visuals of the website to appeal to your market what is equally important is how you set up the back end and administration of your Ecommerce site. The things that always create a challenge are shipping and payments.

The payment system decided upon was Square. This is easily set up for online payments and offers easy options for offline payments by purchasing a Square reader and using it at for pop up shops, or markets or trade shows.

The shipping took more consideration but the final decision was flat rate shipping and to restrict delivery to Australia therefore reducing the complications of working out profitable shipping rates for the rest of the world.

The other request was discounts for multiple buys which was worked out with installation of a plugin that would calculate that for the purchaser and a great selling tool for a new business.

Result

Unie Supps set our designer a challenge, not intentionally, even he didn’t realise the complexity of label layout at this stage. All the products required a detailed label with branding, exacting nutritional information to meet Australian standards, ingredients list and design elements to reflect each unique flavour and application. This was achieved with great satisfaction on both sides as all information was intricately and expertly placed on the labels for perfect printing.
