The Challenges

One of the bigger challenges was creating one site that would work as well, and adapt to, their largest international customer base which is the Unites States. Where previously they had a separate US site, it was decided one approach for both markets would streamline operations.

With US Tariffs now being applied we needed to create functionality that identified where the client was based, adjust pricing to their currency, and apply the requires taxes.

Another request from the Pelican team was an easy to navigate menu for their large variety of products and a comprehensive search function to assist users in finding products that met physical and medical needs.

Concept

The design was developed by listening to what Pelican already loved about their website but elevating it for current trends with a clean, information structured architecture.

As the website is selling medical aids the design had to reflect a traditional healthcare corporate style with visual cues to establish immediate credibility. However we wanted to steer away from the traditional blue and white of most medical industry sites. Our designer introduced unexpected colours with purple, green and brown used judiciously for emphasis and highlighting services. This was a theme enthusiastically embraced by Pelican management and they have now forwarded this branding change into all their marketing material.
